Course Title - Cardiovascular Risk Reduction in Patients with Diabetes: Implementing clinical trials in practice
Course Duration – 1 hr.
Course Type - Online- E-learning Material (ELM)

About This Course:
Insulin resistance, dyslipidaemia, diabetes and hypertension are interrelated conditions that contribute to significant morbidity and mortality worldwide. Insulin resistance often precedes the onset of type 2 diabetes and is closely linked to obesity, physical inactivity, and genetic predisposition. Dyslipidaemia, characterized by abnormal levels of lipids in the blood, is a common metabolic disorder that often coexists with insulin resistance and diabetes, further exacerbating cardiovascular risks. Managing T2DM effectively involves not only controlling blood sugar levels but also addressing comorbid conditions such as dyslipidaemia and hypertension to reduce the overall cardiovascular risk. Sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) and dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors (DPP-4i) are two classes of antidiabetic medications that have revolutionized the management of T2DM.
