About this course:
Allergic diseases, a global health concern, have remarkably increased in the last decade, with more than 30% of the population affected by one or more allergic diseases. Not all patients respond to the array of treatment of IgE-mediated chronic diseases like antihistamines, corticosteroids and other anti-inflammatory medications. To target IgE, biological drugs have been pursued in the treatment of severe cases. The currently available anti-IgE agent, omalizumab is the only biological drug licensed as an adjunctive therapy in children aged > 6 years with moderate-to-severe and severe allergic asthma uncontrolled after treatment with high dose of inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) plus long-acting inhaled β2-agonists (LABA).
